Centenary of a great lady of lyric music: Victoria de los Ángeles

On 1 November 2023 marked the centenary of the birth of Victoria de los Ángeles. At that time the foundation that bears her name lauched projects and activities to celebrate it.
Among these activities was Albert Ferrer's lecture on 2 February at the Pau Casals Municipal School of Music in El Vendrell.
Albert Ferrer is a very effective communicator and at the same time very gimmicky; that is why he has the quality of transforming his lecture into an entertaining way of offering information.
He explained the different books written about the voice and the life of Victoria de los Ángeles. He also explained the vocal and technical qualities of her voice, a singer who never wanted to be seen as a diva. She never wanted to lose her humility even knowing that the public considered her one of the best sopranos of the 20th century. The lecture included some videos about performances of the great singer or interviews with her.
The work of the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation for the celebration of the centenary is supported by a wide range of public institutions the support of a huge diversity of public institutions and the patronage of individuals and institutions and private entities.

On this occasion the act was supported by the Xarxa de Biblioteques de Catalunya (Net of Libraries of Catalonia); the Vendrell's Organ Association, the Vendrell Town Council, Diputació de Tarragona (The Tarragona Provincial Council), RTV El Vendrell, Temporada, L’Institut Català d’Empreses Culturals (Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises), and the Parrish Church of El Vendrell .
Albert Ferrer Flamarich has a degree in Art History, with a mention in art criticism, and conservation of artistic heritage, and a master in "The interdisciplinary art of the Music" both from the University of Barcelona (UB), as well as more specific knowledge learnings about music and communication. He defines himself as a music populariser. Certainly, the lecture shows this high capacity in him. He is a music critic and writes in different Catalan publications such as El temps de les arts or Foc Nou.
